You can imagine him being a jerk, but it's entirely possible that his reaction

was due to her being a jerk when asked about the apple. Since the thing isn't filmed, it's probable that the truth of the matter is somewhat different than the story she is telling, at least when it comes to her behavior and attitude during the whole encounter.
