If you review the history of social involvement and social issues
the LDS culture does eventually follow most trends, even though kicking and screaming. I would not be surprised, but it will be later and much after than the progressives of the LDS culture desire.

Imagine if, the LDS Church lost its tax exempt status, the privacy of its temples and were burdened with other regulations such in hiring if the Church did not modify its social position on such issues? It was the exact threat that helped move the needle on plural marriage.

Moreover, millennials and other young people do not agree with the position taken by older and more senior leadership. It is widespread. I tend to agree that many social issues will continue to change.
