And what would the same team in the MWC have to play for? We lose 1 or 2 games

in the MWC and we aren't getting into a NY6 game. Either way we aren't getting there unless we are undefeated or a 1 loss team. Not to mention far less money in the MWC and crappy access to seeing games. Even if you win the MWC and have lose 2 or more non-conf games you still aren't guaranteed access to a NY6 bowl, so it would be straight to the Vegas bowl (and actually not even that anymore). Probably Hawaii bowl or something. Here's to playing for something!!
