In my previous post I am clearly showing (with arrows mind you) that INDY is what is causing and leading to all those other symptoms.
Then you respond with "Exactly!" and that the MWC would be the death knell.
You just saw and agreed that Indy was the leading cause of all the symptoms:
Indy-->no conference-->poor schedules-->early losses-->nothing to play for-->fan disinterest-->smaller stadium attendance--> less season ticket holders, etc. etc. etc.
But somehow the MWC is the death knell?
No, Indy is just as much a death knell. WE HAVE 9 YEARS OF PROOF THAT PROGRAM IS DECLINING BECAUSE OF INDY. It is the cause of our conference, scheduling, losing, and fan disinterest.
Here is the most basic crux of my opinion:
P5 is the desired outcome for BYU. We are a more attractive program for a P5 conference as winners of games and conferences. We are less attractive in Indy where we are lucky to go to bowl games. Who does a P5 want to add, a 7-6 team or a team that is winning 9 or 10 games a year with a conference championship or two?
So to make it even more clear: Success in a G5 conference makes us more attractive in expansion than a mediocre independent.
