No it really hasn't changed much at all.

Who are the CFB powerhouses? What conferences have been the power conferences since before the BCS?

Over the past 20 years or even longer, this has been the same CFB. There is a reason that BYU is ONLY non-P5 football program to win a NC in the modern era.

Just as an example, 1944 and 1945 Army won it. The last non-P5 team to win was 1927 split NC with Yale.

NOTHING HAS CHANGED. The power schools and conferences have always been in power.

1984 was fluke for which we are all grateful but the powers that be will not let that happen again and we are seeing it today.

The goal is to get to P5 status and the best way to do that is to create a brand that wins and is attractive. We can't/aren't doing that in Indy.
