Hypothetical here:
In Kalani's first year, if we had been in the MWC (for example) we absolutely win the conference and there is a great chance we go undefeated (certainly making assumptions here, but the conference was down that year). If we go undefeated and win the MWC championship there is no way that Western Michigan goes to a NY6 game above BYU. Not happening.

That is where we have the ability to play for tangible results. Is an NY6 game better than a NC game, nope. But it is absolutely a realistic goal. A NC in Indy is NEVER going to happen. I don't care how good of a team we have is. 1984 was a fluke and the CFB powers are not going to let that happen again.

So once again, the most attractive way to get access to a P5 conference is becoming a winning program who can get some quality wins on a national scale while proving the ability to win conference championships with an outside shot at a NY6 game.

If you want to be thankful to the "powers that be" then I think that puts you on the wrong side of the argument. The "powers that be" have done nothing but mismanaged the athletic department at BYU for nearly a decade. But go ahead and support them in this particular endeavor. Einstein said it best, something about doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results. Insanity.
