This is an interesting point, and not just for
religious stuff or OW stuff. It seems like most outward demonstrations of social/political/religious ideas end up having the opposite effect of what they're going for. Whether it's a women's march on the left, or a pro-life rally on the right (or tweets, or CB comments, or whatever), it doesn't end up convincing the "other" side of anything, but more likely actually entrenches them more — they see you as a freak, dismiss you, and dig in deeper.

At the same time though, maybe it helps to build up the existing tribe? I don't know.

We can look at history and see that public opinions do shift, and those opinions do impact decision-makers, but the dynamics of it all are tricky and subtle.
