For the record I attended a Colorado vs Utah football game a few years ago, when a work colleague begged me to go. There was nothing particularly exciting about that game or the crowd. Fans were giving away tickets. It wasn't a great year. Place was quiet.

That same year or maybe it was the next year or two, I was at the LES Boise St. game Mangum freshman year and for the most part things were fairly electric.

Your stadium is just a reflection of your teams performance. It's also just a reflection of the fan base. We shouldn't apologize for our fans. Our fans are conservative, they have tons of small kids. They are in hot dog lines trying to make wives and 4 year olds happy most the night. That's just the way it is. We shouldn't apologize for that. Or they are 65 years old with hearing aids, but those fans have dumped thousands of dollars into the program and lost their voices all through the 80's and deserve to be there too.

Utah has a different dynamic. Half the fan base is tailgaiting with a cold beer before walking in, including the students. They are already slightly buzzed and giddy. Throw in the fact they have been beating teams like USC on national TV and yeah, they are going to get loud.

Look, BYU has Utah and USC coming into LES in August/September. I will guarantee you that if BYU will stay in the game and have any kind of lead late that LES will be rocking the best it can, old folks and little kids included. It'll never be anything other than that. It's who we are and that's okay. Young, Bosco, Detmer, Sark, Hall, all had no issues taking teams to the woodshed in Provo with the very same fanbase.

Team just needs to start winning again and we'll all be clamoring for tickets and all of us will lose our voices.
