The thing about these comparisons is they assume the best for your own team’s
potential and don’t know as much about what’s going on at the other school. Romney is a perfect example of this. The idea is that if Romney is healthy and plays up to his potential, including what he’s supposedly shown in spring, then byu’s WRs could be better. I understand where this is coming from because Romney was one if the highest rated guys BYU has landed in recent years.

But meanwhile, on the Utah side you have Solomon Enis, who was a recruit the same year as Romney, from the same state as Romney, and who was rated higher than Romney. They put up almost identical numbers as freshmen (despite Romney having a much clearer path to playing time), and Enis showed some major flashes of potential and has looked very good in camp. But while Romney is the reason BYU fans here hype up BYU’s WRs as potentially being better, Enis isn’t even a consideration (and again, I’m not being critical about that, it’s natural for BYU fans to only know their guy but not the Utah guy with potential but who got limited PT last year due to depth and being dinged up).

And then Utah also has a guy like Bryan Thompson, who was a higher rated recruit than Romney (per the 247 composite) who came out a year earlier but who has been dinged up and had his PT limited as a result and will also be a sophomore because injuries limited his availability last year. He has looked fantastic in camp, but I’m sure none of the BYU fans ranking WRs even considered him even though everything being said about Romney could be said about Thompson. But again, that’s fine and the reality of fans rating their players to players on other teams.

Oh, and these guys will probably have worse numbers than Romney because Romney will play a ton while Enis and Thompson will be fighting for reps with more experienced guys like Dixon, Nacua, and Simpson’s, while BYU just doesn’t have that kind of depth.
