As i mentioned in another post, using the term "Pac-10" conjures up this official offer idea in people's minds. My source said every school in the Pac-10 wanted the BYU/Utah pairing and those two points prevented it from happening. I know for a fact that in his position he was in constant interaction with not only the conferences but each school on a regular basis and that both conferences would run their expansion plans by him and the game committee. How did they feel out BYU? Don't know and I'll ask him next time we talk for the details of how the vetting took place. I suspect it was one of the ADs that had a close relationship with TH that found out BYU's position on the two points and reported back.
