No it isn't silly to think that they should delay unnecessary travel with a kid
until that kid is older and can be expected to behave better on its own. That's what we did, we didn't take an infant to Hawaii or Australia we waited to take them until we felt they would be able to behave themselves and if they didn't were old enough to be corrected.
We made the conscious choice to only go places with our small kids that we could drive to even if it was a little bit longer drive. If we didn't think they could be reasonably kept under control then we just didn't take them. And I'm not sure why people don't see the wisdom in that and the choice to be courteous to others is an attribute. Deciding to delay our own gratification so as not to infringe on others seems to be something many on here don't get.
