WHEN meals are consumed is significant. So a 16 hour fast and eating in the
remaining 8 hour window has health benefits. I even read one study that determined that such an IF restricted-window diet resulted in more weight loss even given the same overall calorie intake. So it might not be quite the simple matter of calories in/calories out.
