too little while working out and being active is counter productive for so many health reasons. And you're right, you don't have to lift or run to lose weight, just eat less. But the amount he claims he's eating is unhealthy while being active is going to cause his body to starve himself in unhealthy ways. This is why a lot of people struggle to lose weight.
I'm going to guess that you're probably eating at a maintenance level though, which is great. Or less when you feel like you're too heavy. Which is also great. But your advice to someone who is interested in leading an active lifestyle is poor.
