I really am amazed (but probably shouldn't be) by anyone defending Rod's statement on the PI 'no-call'.

I understand why they call games in little league and even some high school sports when the score gets so lopsided. I think it's more about saving some face for the losing team and saving time so that games don't go on too long.

But this is college ball we're talking about. To suddenly say, 'Yeah, we're not gonna call that BLATANT PI because BYU is up by so much and they shouldn't be throwing bombs downfield - even though it's not their starters.' is a pretty irresponsible thing to do. It shows a disregard for player safety, the integrity of the game...and there are probably other reasons as well.
