You are going to get plenty of blowback on here from those who have it easy but

in truth you are on to something. The US had an incredible economic boom the last half of the 20th century that really benefited a couple generations, and now it's stagnated. Most of that capital was hoarded and gobbled up. Part of the problem is that taxes on the uber wealthy are MUCH MUCH lower than they used to be, so they can collect more stuff they don't need.
