I am just fortunate enough to have worked on both the provider and payer side to know what to ask and where to check. Shouldn't require that at all. This practice has been a black mark on the industry for a long time. Glad to see it fixed

Also it would be illegal to check insurance at the door and redirect people to other ERs. Huge EMTALA violation.

The computer does tell you that. It says “out of network” on the patient’s chart.
