Every healthcare system has its issues. I'm not sure what is a good fix.
Insurance companies are a huge problem. So are government run healthcare systems. It's important for providers to receive fair compensation. It's also important for patients to receive timely and affordable care with cost transparency. Corporate insurances and government run systems typically fail at some of or all of those things.
I know I'm simplifying things there, and that the overarching situation is far more complex.

Also it would be illegal to check insurance at the door and redirect people to other ERs. Huge EMTALA violation.
