Sounded to me like her concern was about her own safety. Lots of gymnasts have
agreed with her decision, stating that if she wasn't mentally in the right place, competition would be bad. If you screw up throwing a basketball, you miss the shot. If you screw up on the uneven bars, you break your neck.
