I suppose I think what you say may come to true to some degree, but I still think the elite schools offer a filtering mechanism that the vast majority of big companies will still value for a long time. Also, there's a whole lot of work in places like investment banks that doesn't really apply to the quant and algorithm geniuses example you shared, at least in my opinion.
