The days of academics controlling conference affiliation are rapidly ending. It

is about budgets now. Only budgets. The academics and the SJWs and the HR nonsense are luxuries that can only exist when the financial picture is rosy. As soon as the money dries up, the luxuries vaporize and disappear.

Academic people are some of the weakest stakeholders in the economy because they provide no hard economic value. They are totally and completely at the mercy of those who produce. They exist only so long as there is excess.
