Great question, and leads to a major (discovered) DISCLAIMER:

These numbers don't even include FBS football, because the NCAA does not consider a D1/FBS voted or playoff champion to be an actual national champion, I guess due to not being an official NCAA organized, sanctioned, and administered playoff.

It doesn't change the point, however, that the PAC12 calling itself the Conference of Champions is completely justified and reasonable.
