You're right for anything not in the hard sciences or professional degrees
But in the hard sciences, academics are expected to bring in grant money. At some of the large research universities, a lot of the STEM degrees may bring in more money than the schools spend on them. And a lot of those academics are producing quality research and degrees which do end up having economic value. Law schools and business schools also bring in lots of donations. So I think you're painting way too broad of a brush.

But I totally agree with you on the SJW nonsense. They provide no hard economic benefit. But they do often bring in money as all government agencies and now companies clamor all over each other to prove they're as woke as can be. So there's a lot of money to be made in this area. It's not nearly on the same level as sports of course but it's also not a net negative financially. That allows it to keep on going.
