we averaged 37 pts a game that year. Offense wasn't our problem, it was the D...
...he turned it over to Howell that year and within 4 games Howell had a mutiny on his hands, the defense was melting down we went on a 4 game losing streak where we gave up an avg of 41 pts a game. Finally after the blowout loss to Boise St, Bronco got mad and took back the control of the defense and settled things down.

As for QB issues during early Indy years, part of the problem was they failed to recruit and develop adequate depth at that position. Coming out of MWC play we had some decent talent there but coaches either ignored them/failed to develop them or ran them off. In 2014 we were fortunate to have a backup walkon QB from Snow who, after a little bit of a rough start, started to pick things up and helped us finish the regular season on a nice run. He led us to 48 pts in the bowl game which should have been enough to win but for the crappy defense in that game (gave up 55 pts).

Recruiting, building and developing adequate depth at each position group is a primary function of a good coach and staff. The fact that they couldn't do that most years is a failure on their part.
