I certainly never claimed I was a "victim" of this issue. But we've all been victims of misrepresentation. Particularly over the matter of a single word, have we not? (What would CB be without this wonderful experience!)
I just wish that the blunt truth of your header were in truth the abiding ideal of our society. Cuz if using THE word in question — were simply "no right or privilege" to "no one" — I hope you'd agree that "no one" should be losing their jobs simply by parroting the word off of a screen as a circumstantial act of public reading. Unfortunately, that's not how "racial justice" plays out in our society, sometimes. Might there have been other personal vices or failing that went into this firing? I think most of us wish that there were — but in the politically charged environment of our American universities, I think we all should be wise enough to realize that NOTHING else may be at issue here.
As much as you wish the consequences involved here were issued by "the team," we should all also know that "the team" in question very well didn't involve a democratic vote of the players or even a carefully considered verdict of the head coach. More likely it involved a contingent of five players or less — & found its teeth beyond the team's players & staff.
