The argument is mostly that the poor in our system aren't that poor and are better off because of this system and, most importantly, the poor don't actually stay poor. Cause guess what, the poor are working to improve their situation as well and most of them will succeed in doing so thanks to capitalism. I was legitimately poor, but thanks to our economic system I was able to move out of poverty and I am statistically the norm, at least as it regards getting out of poverty.
I will say though that if people think we should throw the best system possible because they would rather everyone suffer more so that their path to more favorable comparison is easier, then I am not sympathetic to that all.
