We will have 3-4 games against P5 teams year in and year out at best. I know that last year we had ND, Texas, Virginia, Utah, Georgia Tech and Wisconsin which is 6 games....but that is an anomaly. In other words we may have a year here or there with the 5 or 6 P5 team scheduling but the norm will be 3-4 games. This would mean that being in the MTN West would be about the same results (8 conference games with 3 P5 teams). And we wouldn't have to beg for 2-1 and other P5 games.
So if bluebrotha is right, it sounds like a Big12 invite could be around the corner, because I don't see any kind of formal scheduling agreement with either the Big12 or PAC12. We probably will have to wait out this first year of playoffs to see any action, because I'm sure the Big12 will want to see the fallout of not having a championship game and what that means to their playoff chances, and BYU will want to see where they fall in the NEW P5 top 25 rankings week in and week out to gauge our playoff chances as an indy.
