Tidbits
BYU's relationship went sour a few years ago w/ the B12 after the Y decided to 'wait and see'. I can confirm there existed direct discussions w/ the two parties regarding specific details on tV rights AND partial membership status (football only). Sunday play was never discussed as this was already pre-determined to be non negotiable.

The talks ultimately centered on football only status to which the Y declined. Holme and associated attorneys concluded at the time the Y would wait and see for several reasons, primarily because the B12 was more unstable than most realized. If Texas and OU left, the conference would become a glorified AAC. The ESPN contract was too stable to just toss aside for a fluid B12. Some B12 members (smaller ones) were not pleased with the Y's reluctancy and basically black balled the Y from scheduling, hence you see no B12 match ups.

As divisional/playoff developments have unfolded, it's been goal number 1 to create a scheduling agreement with the PAC, but remain Indy. For reasons unknown, this alliance could only remain small, like 3 games a year, namely annual Utah series, annual late Novemeber fill-in game, and one September matchup. The scheduling focus has been to obtain 7-9 yearly matchups with P5 teams and fill in the rest with the top of the G5 schools, like UCF, Boise, Cincy, etc., hoping this would be enough to include the Y as Quasi P5 program. For example, last year BYU played 7 match ups with P5 schools, and this was to eventually be the norm.

No G5 school can even schedule more than 3 P5 teams, hence MWC or AAC membership is not even a thought and never will be. Please stop wasting your breath with this idea. Worst ever possible case scenario is BYU playing 4-5 P5 opponents yearly and cherry picking the G5's best.

Years ago I was told the earliest BYU could be tied to the B12 was 2015. Recently, in April, I was told Holmoe was to meet with the B12 by mid-June 2014 to discuss 2015 alliance. The first play is to get a 2-3 game scheduling agreement with the B12. Add those games to the 3 PAC games and then add another 3 random P5 games, ie, Wisconsin, ND, Virginia, etc, and stay with ESPN. If this fails, then football only w/ B12 likely occurs and ESPN ends and as far as tv revenues goes, less money is made with football only status.

What will happen, no one knows, not even TH. as far as meetings this week, I have no idea. But I do see me informant this upcoming weekend at the sports camp, so my bird just may sing a few more songs. For those "in the know" group and were already aware of what I stated above, please know I have the best intentions here. For those who question my validity, my record speaks for itself. Oh, and TH need to be eternally thanked for his efforts.
