I have not posted on this subject for quite some time. I recently got a Boardmail with the simple question, "Why do you like Bronco?".
Simply stated, he is the best fit for BYU when you look at all aspects of what BYU and the board of trustees look for when finding a coach. If you lose him, you will need to replace him with someone who can win at a higher clip than he has done and uphold the standards he has help set. I do not think that will be easy to do. I feel it is a huge gamble to replace him. You will, most certainly, lose him and his defensive mind. It is a big risk to take.
Besides our winning percentage since he has been at BYU, he has instituted programs at BYU that have make me like him even more. First, he brought back traditional uniforms. He brought back a logo that I love. He has reached out to alumni and have brought them back at a level not done in the past. He instituted Thursday's heroes which I think is an incredible opportunity for our student athletes to help those struggling. It gives our student athletes a perspective on life that his hard to give a young man of 18-25. I love how he involves the fans through fanfest and participates with his athletes.
I am not delusional to think Bronco is perfect or that he has not made many mistakes since becoming the head coach. He has. But, in my mind, he is the right coach at the right time for BYU. With him, I believe we have a better change of P-5 inclusion. Without him, I believe, we would not be as competitive on the field and would find it more difficult to be included. I believe we are in a fight to be a part of the future of college football. I want Bronco, and Tom Holmoe for that matter, in our corner.
