...it's not hard to qualify as the 3rd best decade when before Lavell BYU had never gone to a bowl game in their entire history and had only had 16 seasons with a winning record prior to Lavell going all the way back to 1922. That's 50 seasons. Winning wasn't the norm at BYU before Lavell arrived.

We live in a day and age where BYU is committing humongous resources to it's football program, it's at an unprecedented level. They've added or upgraded facilities, increased coaches salaries, built the HD Broadcasting facility, etc all in an effort to raise the exposure of the program and be able to compete at the highest level.

The fact that Bronco now appears to be in the mode of lowering the bar for success instead of raising it (he is now happy with 8 wins) despite all of these extra resources being committed to the program dictates that he doesn't have what it takes to get the team to that next level of success. He has plateaued and he is what he is, good at beating the MWC/WAC teams (at least he was before the last few seasons) but unable to do much more. Let him play out his contract and then start the search for the guy who can make all that investment into the program a wise investment.
