Bronco has been a good coach but he's not irreplaceable...
...you don't let fear paralyze you from making a change if it's clear a change is needed. When Crowton was forced to resign BYU Administrators didn't have his replacement in-hand, groomed and ready to slide in behind him. They had to interview and do discovery to find his replacement. When Tommy Hudspeth stepped down as BYU HC back in the early 70's BYU didn't have a clear choice who his replacement was going to be then as well.

The next Lavell Edwards is just an interview away. What if BYU Administrators were paralyzed with fear thinking, "Oh No. We don't know who will replace Coach Hudspeth. We need to convince him to stay on longer. WE can't possibly find a replacement for him!!!"? If BYU administrators let fear of the unknown paralyze them from taking action and they convince Hudspeth to stay on longer, maybe Lavell gets hired by Utah in '74 instead of Tom Lovat and he builds them into a National Champion instead of us?

I never ever think letting fear of the unknown to paralyze you is a good course to take. Bronco was a good replacement for Crowton and helped bring some stability we needed at that time. We are past those days however and the program is sort of stuck in auto-pilot mode. Bronco isn't the same coach that he was when he first took over and has sort of settled in to 8-5 mode. That maybe is good enough if you're Utah St or Weber St. He was a good guy to fix the problems we had at the end of Crowton's time but now that those issues aren't a problem anymore, we need a coach who can take the program to the next level (perennial top 25 rankings, 10+ wins and a bowl win).

Time for a change imo. He should do the program a favor and step aside when his contract is over.
