Your sample size argument applies just as equally to Bronco's benefit. Give him
20 more years and see if he's as successful as Edwards. Fact is, the last 10 years have been the third best decade in BYU history (behind Lavell's first and second decades). It's not prudent to throw away the 2nd best coach we've ever had for the mere hope of finding the next second-best coach we've ever had.
