you may not agree with that, but there is no question that the single group of people who most notice and are most effected emotionally by some negative thing coming out of BYU sports are LDS Ute fans. 99.9% of the people in the world would not blink an eye at Max Hall's comments. ALUFs are the most tormented by anything semi-negative coming out of BYU.

Max Hall's comments are funny fodder at best for most people...if they give it a second thought. The net effect of his comments on the outside view of the church versus, say, the positive effect Steve Young or Ty Detmer or many, many other has had cannot even be compared. It seems to me most ALUFs want to downplay and discount the effect of BYU sports for the church until it is something that is possibly negative. But the positive net effect of BYU sports for the church is OVERWHELMINGLY greater than the few negatives. I guess it just depends on if you know about it and if you choose to recognize it.

It doesn't need an answer, but I still can't fathom the inner turmoil an ALUF must have. It would be like cheering against my own kids.
