I think I get it....

I went to BYU-I when it was Ricks, and I can understand that. Fortunately I was in a program that didn't require me to go to the main campus very often, so I got away with more things than most students would have or I may have gone stir-crazy. I was an RM, and felt that some of the rules were more than a little silly and I chafed at them. I am happy I went there, but I will acknowledge that the experience is not for everyone. It doesn't make you a bad person if you choose not to follow the hard-and-fast honor code, it makes you different from those who do. My daughter goes to BYU now, and has agreed to follow the honor code. If she gets kicked out for some minor thing that violates the honor code but may not even hit the standard for needing to see a bishop about, I can't complain. She agreed to it and now she has to abide by it. But you can be a good member of the church and still live your life in such a way that it would violate the honor code. Todd Christensen's hair today violated the honor code, that doesn't mean he has lowered his religious standards. Not that I would know anything about that.
