RE: A successful BYU athletics program benefits the Church

Growing up in California,I was a huge BYU fan and looked forward to someday attending. I was accepted and spent 2 years there before transferring to the U. I met some great friends at BYU and appreciate the education I received there. However, it was apparent to me early on, that a small culture at BYU believed they were superior in many ways. Hypocrisy was abound and it was frustrating to see that much arrogance. In my opinion, the balance between "spirit of the law" and "letter of the law" were way out of wack. I am embarrassed by this behavior and believe it does nothing to further the mission of the church. Let me be clear, a good portion of BYU students and fans are great people with humble ambitions. I realize there are bad fans on both sides, but if you are "The Lord's University" whether you like it or not, you are held to a higher standard.

The difference between BYU and the U is; BYU thinks they're perfect, the U knows they are not.
