So a missionary in Sac Mtg today...
from Gainesville florida talked about how he has served in provo for several months and people often ask him if serving here and around BYU makes him want to go to BYU. He responded by saying "No, but I've never really like BYU anyway". ....wait what? He was serious too. He wasn't really trying to be funny.
I don't mind if people don't like BYU but when you are in Provo as a missionary, serving around thousands and thousands of cougar fans you don't say you don't like their home school from the pulpit. I wanted to ask him after the meeting if I were a missionary in Gainesville if I said I never really liked the Gators how people would respond. Is it bad that I tuned him out for the rest of his talk?
I don't mind if UofU fans make snide remarks because they are usually saying it in jest and they understand the rivalry but a missionary from another state saying that is just odd. Thoughts? Maybe I'm overreacting....
