Missionaries should loved those they serve and love and respect the things those people love. Publicly making a disparaging remark about the local university is like saying: "Your school is lame, but I want your respect and referrals anyway.". What other lame comments does this guy have up his sleeve? He lost trust, and made a bad impression. That's deadly for a missionary.
