And I'll be the first to admit that frankly, the coaches got too much heat last year--particularly Detmer. A team that had to go like 5 deep into it's QB well was bound to lose a lot of games.
That doesn't mean that the team had to be undisciplined. It doesn't mean that the effort had to be visibly bad. It didn't mean that the locker room had to be a joke, as I've heard from multiple credible people that are close to the program. It's all of those things in combination with losing and Kalani's pouting all year long made last year what it was.
It's not an either/or thing. The players were bad AND the coaching, particularly at the top was also bad. But guess whose job it is to make the players NOT suck ...?
