was the expectation that players in this generation were just as self motivated to perform at the highest level they’re capable of and that a relaxed, fun-loving atmosphere would just build on that existing foundation.

By the time they realized that what would work for them personally wasn’t working for today’s players, it was too late. A drastic makeover was necessary resulting in new coaches, new level of discipline (i.e. old school), different level of accountability.

We’ll know soon enough whether the ship is capable of sufficiently changing direction.
