Most doctors aren't paid by patients. They're paid by insurance companies.

Seems like that plays a HUGE role in healthcare costs and physician pay.

But I agree that there are differences and that marketplace plays a role. That's why I say that as a society - we value chips more than kids. We're willing to pay more for those who care for chips than those who care for children.
