I've seen three football games in RES in my life, but you'd have a hard time convincing me to go back after my last experience in 2008.
Walking up to the stadium, our group took an unfortunate turn and ended up walking through fraternity row. We were barraged with verbal insults from frat party boys, including one long-hair who, with a PBR in his hand, repeatedly screamed in my face "God hates you! God hates Mormons! **** you! **** Joseph Smith!" Over and over and over until he had followed us a little too far from his home base.
In the stadium, my dad was accosted in the men's room. He's standing at the urinal, taking a leak, and some Ute fans get in his ear and start giving him some serious business. I'm not sure what they said, but my dad was pretty shaken up about it.
The game was heated, but progressed nicely. But then after Max Hall threw his 117th and final pick, the crowd turned pretty hostile. They started throwing garbage at the BYU fans in our section. Then as we were walking down the steps to exit, the U fan idiots threw garbage at us, threw drinks at us, pushed us as we walked by and hurled every profanity in the books at us.
It was awful. One of the worst experiences of my life. To the good Ute fans on this board, I'm sorry your fellow fans let you down. You're probably good guys, but that experience forever colored my opinion of your fanbase.
