I’ve always wished this would stop. I’ve had a loved one turn down BYU for another school that checked more of her boxes and those were the first two questions she’d get in her ward “Oh did you not get accepted?” “You don’t want to live the honor code?” Etc. This is one of multiple examples I know of.
To be fair, most were of an older generation that would say this.
