It's obvious that BYU-Idaho is a red-headed step child, and isn't taken seriously (I'm not bashing the school, I'm talking about Church leadership not giving BYU-I equal treatment).
BYU Idaho has much more room to expand, and could be a great school. But it needs to be a real University.
(1) Give it a sports program. If not a football program, at least a Basketball program. It can even be UVU level, and compete in the WAC with UVU. Sports is a way to make students and alums proud of their school, and alums engaged and interested. There is none of that at BYU-I right now. It's treated like EFY or something with intramurals.
(2) Make their honor code the same as BYU. We need to treat BYU-I students like adults. These rules that 23 year olds can't wear shorts or flip flops, and have curfews is a complete joke. Time ti update the rules for the 21st century.
Make a few changes, and BYU-I won't be so looked down upon by kids applying to college. Make it a better option.
