If some of you get your way and Kalani is ousted this year, I fear for the future of BYU football.
Kalani Sitake is coaching a team whose AD has given them playoff-worthy P5 schedules without P5 money, players, recruits, coaches, facilities, etc., virtually guaranteeing us perpetual 5-7-, 6-6- or 7-5-type seasons. And we, the fans (or some of us anyway), cry and moan because that's not enough. He should be winning more. He should be winning like LaVell or Bronco.
They forget the fact that LaVell and Bronco (with the exception of Bronco's last few seasons) never had to play the schedules we have to play these days. If LaVell Edwards played the likes of Washington, Utah (the P5 version), USC and Tennessee in September every year, losing games and getting his guys banged up in the process, his winning percentage would take a huge hit.
No BYU coach, not even LaVell, had success against winning P5 programs. Playing more P5s = more losses.
So if we want more wins, fix the real problem. Get rid of Tom Holmoe or get him to shift his scheduling philosophy to reflect the true state of BYU football. We are not a P5 school, and we shouldn't be playing P5 schedules.
Stop. Ham-mer time.
