The problem is that we know what 5,000 dead people look like.
It's scary, it sounds like a lot.
We as humans cannot possibly even imagine what 330 milllion healthy people look like.
That's why people talk about raw numbers instead of percentages. 500 dead sounds crazy. "That's like my whole ward". 5,000 dead? "That's more than could fit in my local cemetary..." Think of the 5,000 devastated people right now... We forget that while those 5,000 died to Covid, 300,000 died to other causes.
