A month ago Italy had low/no deaths from Covid; a month later one region lost
the entire country's avg annual deaths from the flu. It's encouraging that haven't lost as many people in one day as they did on Saturday they still had over 700 people die yesterday and again today while still being concentrated in the north. While we can hope, there is no data suggesting that this resolves with a simple doubling of annual deaths from the flu (1x for the standard flu virus and another 1x for CV19).

That's the government's job - collect public health data so that we don't crater the economy with indiscriminate lockdowns. The government failed. Hopefully, testing continues to ramp aggressively to narrow the impact far behind what's projected in plans like the one the State of Utah released yesterday. But right now that data does not exist.
