Even if nobody dreamed it would be BYU, there was a structure (or more accurately, a lack thereof) that made it easier for a random, unexpected team to rise. That random team happened to be BYU, which is great and was unexpected, but it wasn't a crazy thought that SOME random unexpected team would rise up one of these years.
