...the various BYU athletic programs. I believe most of that comes from the idea that athletes with hype stars and pedigrees that read SEC (football) or ACC (basketball) are always destined to win. Amid this we discover very Blue Blue Blue bloods DUKE and UPCHUCKY will not make the NCAA Tournament this year and it isn't for a lack of STAR RATED players of CLASS RANKINGS either. They just didn't jell as basketball TEAMS.

Most people know that I think JJ is a horses pitute. He's not wrong about 4-5 P5's a year mainly because BYU tends to schedule upper tier P5's. Look at their last ten year P5 opponent's. So maybe scheduling 6 or 7 is ridiculous. Notre Dame doesn't even schedule that way anymore with the exception of this past COVID season and then the ACC did not look so tough in Football after-all. But by the time you add another 3 P5 Level G5's you have a pretty rounded schedule.

As for never getting to a NY6 bowl, I think JJ is again full of Horse excrement's for a couple of reasons:

1) BYU was one yard away from getting there this past year and don't think they weren't. But even if they had won and had NOT gotten a NY6 invite, the entire system was badly exposed this past season and the powers that be used COVID to justify all kinds of crap that should never have been allowed, like Ohio State getting an invite with only 6 regular season games.

2) You don't know what will happen in the next iteration of television and media rights contract negotiations. BYU is popular. BYU is valuable. BYU is Independent and it doesn't matter what happens with CBS, FOX, ESPN, etc....BYU will always be able to go 1st tier to BYUtv which has a broader world wide distribution than any other program in the country. BYU is in a unique situation both in terms of facility infrastructure and independence. IT HAS CHOICES. IT WILL ALWAYS HAVE CHOICES.

The key to getting into the top 12 and the final four is simple. Al Davis gave us the formula. A 4 tough P5 game schdule + Boysenberry State, SDSU and the occasional OOC slate that includes any AAC program will get BYU noticed.

As for JJ and sometimes others with Microphones, they really need to remember who signs their paychecks. If I were the AD, some of those would have been cut long ago. If you can't come to work EVERY DAY and put away your private doubts and lamentations while airing the sunny side of BYU athletics in terms of projecting, then you should not be employed as a spokesperson.

I personally dislike almost everything GM (Government Motors) has ever produced except the 1963 Oldsmobile Cutlass and every Corvette ever built. GM has a long history of producing absolute crap. My Bro-inlaw was a Certified GM Mechanic his entire life - drives Fords because of it. Having said that, imagine if the typical GM Commercial started with, "Hey, I am Mr. Goodwrench and I will fix your car when it breaks down.." Oh WAIT! GM DID DO THAT for 30 years. And it sucked. At the same time FORD was constantly telling us "QUALITY is JOB#1" and then they made that happen. The quality delta was there, not overly dramatic, similarly, but when JJ is telling us to have low expectations, I think its a problem. When Greg Wrubell is telling us to have low expectations, its going to be a problem. I cannot stomach THAT KIND of NEGATIVITY and when the players hear that crap, they tend to think, wow it must be true and then crappy play becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. People shilling for BYU don't need to be pie in the sky happy, but I would fire immediately those that do not get their role is NOT as a journalist...but as a spokesperson.

Jordon doesn't understand that. It's time someone had a chat with him because I think he hurts the Athletic Department on a regular basis. He grew up an Oregon Duck and Washington Husky fan so..... maybe it time he go ply his trade in those areas.
