It surprises me to see folks here admit that they have no specific education or training in criminal law, yet give their opinions on what is legal or appropriate behavior by the officer or what rights Coach Few had. This officer handled things correctly and fairly. And, no, Coach Few did not have the right to call his attorney at the times he requested. He was detained in order for the officer to determine his ability to drive safely. During this entire contact, the officer was observing the coach’s demeanor, etc. And judging by Few’s later-determined BA level, the officer was right.
