Evaluation criteria
Offense should score 24 or more
Defense should hold teams to 24 or less
Team win = both sides succeeded
Team loss = both sides failed
Defensive win/Offensive loss = defense succeeded and offense failed
Offensive win/Defensive loss = offense succeeded and defense failed
If the defense scores a touchdown, they add those points to the amount of points they can give up. For example, if the defense scores a pick 6 they can now give up 31 points before it will be considered a defensive loss.
If the offense turns the ball over in field goal range it automatically add 3 points to the amount they need to score in order for the game to count as an offensive win. If a field goal is scored those points are not added to the defensive point total for success
If the offense throws a pick 6 that will add 7 more points to their point total to be successful.
24 was chosen at the baseline metric because the average scoring offense in college scores 27 points per game. We average about 1 less possessions per game than the average team so I am spotting the offense 3 points compensate for the 1 less possession.
Not sure how to incorporate overtimes as teams are already in scoring position when they get the ball.
Would love a suggestion on how to incorporate non scoring turnovers. (See WVU game in 2016)

Edited the Boise 2021 game to an offensive loss. Offense is responsible for 3 of the points on one of their turnovers since they turned it over in field goal range for Boise.
