Lol. To draw a national audience, both teams have to be competitive. IN 2019, Utah was the main draw
when they hit 5 million viewers. In 2021, the reg season drew 4 million as did the CCG. Oregon was the main draw but most of the national viewers were rooting for Utah to upset the ducks to open the door for other CFP candidates/
When USC-Utah drew 6 million, it was the same logic.
Both oregon and USC were top 5 teams but Utah was either favored or a less than a FG underdog. An extremely competitive game with CFP implications. Utah - USC drew even bigger because Utah had beaten them already and proved the year prior they can play spoiler.
ASU, BYU, CU, SDSU...etc. would never have been in that situation. We know, because it's been decades...or once in a decade. For Utah, they now have 8 games the last 4 seasons over 4 million.
BYU — despite the massive fan base has yet to exceed 4 million this decade.
BYU fans have presumed Utah's imminent demise every year since 2004. So they always say all games were lightning in a bottle — despite their frequency. lol
